Berenice Abbott was born in July 17, 1898 and passed away on December 9, 1991, she was an American photographer based in New York City and was best known for her portraits of 20th century cultural figures. Abbott’s street photography consists of local knowledge within NYC and photographing these unknown hotspots. This adds to the detail of the imagery, due to the wealth of inside knowledge. Living in NYC meant that Abbott had time to study the city in depth allow her photography to become evermore powerful.
