Creating Guides

Magazine designers often add columns to create a template, this improves the clarity of the page layout providing an easier read. Additional columns can also help balance the entire presentation of the page.

To create your Guides select layout on the tab bar and select Create Guides. You will then be given the option to input the number of rows and columns, the additional option is the size of your gutter. This is the space in between the rows and columns and provides an area free of text to add structure to your design.

This is an example of a page set up with 5 Rows and 4 Columns and a 5mm gutter, all these settings are adjustable to suit multiple different layouts and styles. They are strictly guidelines and are not shown in the final print to preview the design minus the guidelines simple use the short cut key W
